Two Scottish entrepreneurs are aiming to change the way families share memories with the launch of Bunched, a new private family album app designed to help loved ones stay connected without relying on social media.
Founded by Cameron Sim and Callum Stewart, Bunched gives families and friend groups one secure place to privately share photos, videos, and updates. Unlike traditional social media platforms, Bunched has no public profiles, no followers, no adverts, and no AI training using users' photos or videos.
The idea was born from a simple observation. While families take more photos and videos than ever before, sharing them often means sending them through busy group chats, posting them to social media, or storing them in camera rolls where they are quickly forgotten.
"We realised there wasn't a platform built specifically for modern families," said Cameron Sim, Co-Founder of Bunched.
"Parents want to share their kids’ milestones with grandparents, families want to stay connected across different countries, and everyone wants somewhere to keep their memories organised. Existing platforms weren't designed for that. They were designed for social networking. Bunched has been built purely for family and close friends."
Built, branded and marketed entirely by Cameron and Callum in Ayrshire, Scotland, Bunched has been designed and developed by people, not AI, with every aspect of the product created locally over the past year. From the strategy, branding, and illustrations to the app experience itself, the founders wanted to create a product that felt warm, approachable, and genuinely enjoyable to use.
The app also introduces features such as Grandparent Mode, allowing older relatives or anyone without the app to securely view family memories through a simple web link and PIN, removing the barriers that often prevent older generations from staying involved.
Privacy sits at the heart of the platform. Every bunch is invite-only, meaning only the people selected by users can access shared photos and videos. Memories remain private, encrypted, and are never used to train AI models.
The partnership behind Bunched began at the 2025 Ayrshire Business Awards, where founders Callum Stewart and Cameron Sim met after being shortlisted in the Start-up Business of the Year category. Today, Stewart is the founder of Detalo Creative, winner of the 2025 Ayrshire Business Awards Start-up Business of the Year, while Sim leads PixelParty, a global event technology platform powering more than 120,000 events worldwide.
Combining their expertise in branding, technology, and product development, the pair set out to build a modern, privacy-first platform designed specifically for families.
For Callum, Bunched represents more than just another technology product.
"Technology should help families feel closer, not further apart. We wanted to build something that gives people complete confidence to share life's best moments, knowing they'll only ever be seen by the people they choose."
With families becoming increasingly aware of privacy, online safety, and the role of AI in digital platforms, the founders believe demand for dedicated private family spaces will continue to grow.
